Civil Justice Centre Competition

Manchester

Pringle Richards Sharratt were one of three architects shortlisted for the Manchester Civil Justice Centre competition, a pioneering PPP project.

“This scheme forms part of our commitment to modernising the courts for the people who use them. We aim to build a new Civil Justice Centre to hear the full range of civil disputes – from small claims to complex High Court commercial cases. The overall design scheme would also include plans to enhance the existing Crown Court in Crown Square." The Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine.

The project, estimated to be worth between £23-£55million, was one of several Public Private Partnership schemes to improve court facilities and services.

A shortlist of architects was commissioned to work up final designs: Denton Corker Marshall; Pringle Richards Sharratt; and Richard Rogers Partnership.

The project was won by Denton Corker Marshall.
