Ticket Pavilion for Summer Opening of Houses of Parliament

Westminster, London

Pringle Richards Sharratt designed a temporary ticket pavilion for the summer opening of the Houses of Parliament, which was situated on Abingdon Green, opposite the Palace of Westminster.

The pavilion was in place between July and September for a period of 5 years (2003-2008) for selling tickets to the public in advance of timed tours of Parliament.

The pavilion was a laminated timber structure with a membrane roof and is capable of being dismantled and stored for re-erection.  The design is both low cost and elegant and was approved by English Heritage (now Historic England) and Westminster Council, bearing in mind the extreme sensitivity of the site, in the setting of a Grade I listed building on a World Heritage Site.
