Pringle Richards Sharratt carried out a masterplan for Camberley’s Cultural Quarter for Surrey County Council.
A vision was developed for the imaginative redesign of current facilities on the site, incorporating the proposed new provision for Adult Education, creating a vibrant cultural hub for Camberley.
These functions, along with restaurants, cafes, hospitality activities and venue hire facilities on the site and the presence of the registration offices. This creates the opportunity for a major, culturally branded, leisure and life-style destination for residents of Camberley and beyond.
The redesign of the leisure/ cultural activities on this site exploit the synergy between them and improve their connectivity and opportunities to cross-sell between audiences etc. A carefully integrated design provides opportunities for dual or multiple use of spaces, for teaching, performing, displaying art and general crossover opportunities between visitors and audiences. This approach also maximizes the use of available space.
The critical mass of the cultural offer and visitor experience would be greatly improved - to improve impact, footfall / usage and commercial performance. This is an opportunity for the ambition driving the development and transformation of the retail sector in Camberley to be continued in the retail cultural sector.
